‘Let’s get Entangled!’

Using musical activities and performances to help promote understanding of quantum concepts.
Using quantum concepts as a starting point for accessible and original musical expression.
Most people know the word ‘quantum’ from popular culture, but have little idea about what it means. This project will help people to understand the basics of what quantum physics is, and how it has been crucial to the development of much of the useful technology that we use today, such as electronics, lasers, atomic clocks, MRI scanners etc. Also, it is a fascinating area of cutting-edge science. Quantum computing is a priority area of current research in the UK and globally; people will be hearing more about it, so let’s find ways to help them understand more about it.
Don’t be Scared of the Quantum Cat
We are developing interactive workshops to illustrate quantum physical concepts and applications. We will use a range of means including games, performances, visualisations, music and sound, including elements of improvisation and hands-on experimentation for anyone to participate in. No musical skills or physics knowledge required.
This project is in development, with funding applications pending. Activities are expected to be available in the Spring of 2026. Please get in touch if you would like to know more.
This project is a collaboration between:
