- a Chladni plate with scattered grains forming patterns as the plate vibrates due to being bowed, or
- a laser beam reflected from vibrating objects
- a powerful speaker driver with grains, liquids or non-Newtonian fluids, responding to sine waves produced by a signal generator and/or Bass Drives. See Bass Buzz for more.
Oobleck/ non-Newtonian fluid & water. This demonstration is often performed alongside the speaker driver cymatics demonstration.
