Bass Buzz & Oobleck
The Bass Buzz is a bone-shaking and blurry experience of 1000 watts of bass power through your fingers.
This is an intense feeling (a bit like pins and needles) that helps us to understand many aspects of sound waves, frequency and amplitude and the electromagnetic force as applied to the design of loudspeakers.
We use the Bass Buzz in workshops, for drop-in, as part of the Acousatron experience and for the participatory section of the Bass in your Face show.
Oobleck
… is the name that most people use for a non-Newtonian fluid made from corn starch, water, and a small amount of alien blood (optional).
It’s weird and fun to make and play with, but if you put it into a vibrating speaker, things get very groovy in a cosmic way.
We offer the best Oobleck demo this side of Ursa Minor, and we even allow you to put your fingers in close to get the same Bass Buzz vibes that makes the stuff dance so well.
